The new iPhone has an increased screen size with an edgeless screen display. This allows for much greater screen real estate without sacrificing as much increase in device dimensions. The publicly available size shows dimensions of 143.59 x 70.94 x 7.7 (iPhone 7 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1). The edgeless screen is a logical next step and really adds to the beauty of the design. The larger screen would remove the home button from the front of the device and possibly relocate the button to the back or add the functionality to the display itself.

Anly the iPhone X will have an OLED display. OLED supply shortages have plagued Apple over the recent years and looks to still be an issue. Also, I think it’s safe to assume that Apple will increase its pixel count to a 2k to keep up with recent competition. The S8 has a beautiful display and it seems time for Apple to catch up.

Wireless charging has been introduced to all three new iPhone versions, iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. Apple chose the wireless Qi standard and will be compatible with Qi charging accessories.
